Today, Los Angeles County had a record setting high for most new confirmed cases in one day with 2105 more than the total announced yesterday. The county’s public health department again explained this away as “about 600 cases are from a backlog of test results.” New hospitalizations was up 28.6% from sixty-three to eighty-one. New deaths decreased very slightly from thirty-three to thirty-two.

Inside the hospitals, the current number of COVID-19 patients increased 10.2% from 1,288 to 1,420. The number of patients currently being treated in the ICU dropped back down from 399 to 398, the same number as Monday. The number of patients on ventilators decreased by 3.0% from 322 to 312.
