Today was a repeat of the day before, Torrance added four more new confirmed cases to their count while Manhattan Beach contributed another one to their total.

El Segundo has the fewest confirmed cases (39) among these South Bay beach cities but their smaller population means that Hermosa Beach still has the lowest case rate at 228.8 per 100,000 from their 45 cases. El Segundo currently has a case rate of 232.3 per 100,000 people. Torrance continues to have the most confirmed cases (now 457, more than two and a half times the next highest city, Redondo Beach, with their count of 167). Torrance also has the highest case rate at 306.2 per 100,000 people, the only one of these South Bay beach cities above the level of 300 per 100,000 people.

Torrance recorded one new death today to add to the three last week. Redondo Beach also had one new death last week. Torrance now has reached a cumulative total of 50 deaths which raises their mortality rate to 33.5 per 100,000 people. Redondo Beach’s eight fatalities and mortality rate of 11.6 per 100,000 people ranks them second behind Torrance among these South Bay beach cities. None of the other South Bay beach cities has experienced a fatality since the start of the month. El Segundo still has not had a single mortality.
